FLOORS

Floor finishes create a barrier between the wood and all the activity going on top of it. The finish prolongs the life of the floor and makes it more beautiful. There are two primary finish options for Pine Industries wood flooring: varnish and oil. The main differences between them are in the luster of the appearance and the maintenance required.

Slovenian Oak

The largest oak forest complex in Europe is located in the northeastern part of Croatia, carrying on in to Slovenia. This vast area of woodland covers an area of over 40,000 hectares. Some of the trees here are almost 2000 years old and reach 50 meters in height, as well as up to 3 meters in diameter. The amazing quality of Slovenian wood comes from its hardness, solid density, and the resulting strength. It stands out for its fine grain, the annual circular rings, relative flexibility, ease of processing, rich golden color and durability. It is famous for being the best quality oak in the world.

Exclusive and Sustainable

All of us at Pine Industries are very proud to produce exclusive parquet flooring from the world-famous Slovenia oak forest, renowned for the natural beauty and outstanding quality of its wood. All the products we offer are of the highest quality and nothing is left to chance. Our floors are distinguished by durability, wear resistance, and sustainability for both the environment and the buyer. Pine Industries holds a certification of Responsible Forest Management, which ensures a forest or forest plantation is managed in compliance with strict social and economic environmental standards. These standards are based on the 10 Ecological Principles and 70 Responsible Forest Management Principles & Criteria defined by the Forestry Services Council (FSC) and kept up-to-date by the participation of all maintaining stakeholders.

Wood classification

Although they do not have an impact on the final appearance of the parquet floor, the thickness and wood cell structure are important features of our parquet floors, since these elements affect its stability and thermal conductivity. Our floors are sorted into different classes, each with its own unique grain and slightly different look.  The primary features to consider when choosing a material and style are:  The number and size of wood knots, the amount of light-dark areas, and the general color differences between the varieties of wood. The “Luxury” class has the most uniform color of all, and the knots are small and barely visible- this is the flagship of Pine Industries. However, each parquet is unique; the “Natural” class of wood type denotes a unique rustic and natural look. The distinctive appearance of this wood features large knots and a more pronounced grain to give this type of floor an extremely recognizable character. We also have the “Premium” class, a merge between Luxury and Natural. The difference is extremely nuanced with great personality. The choice will then depend on your personal taste and as always, we remain at your complete disposal to advise you from A to Z.

Art Parquet

The Art Parquet is custom built according to your taste, created by our professional designers specifically for the intended use. The floor patterns can vary at will by style, essence, size, treatment and finish.

The floors are completely hand-made, formed entirely in our own workshop by experienced craftsmen. This makes sure you get to obtain unique floors with high aesthetic and structural values.

All treatments and finishes are applied in special facilities at our workshops and factories. Therefore, we can go beyond the size limit of mass produced pre-finished hardwoods that allow only one format and a single finish. We have the unique capability to create floors that even exceed the limits of normal manufacturing. Pine Industries is able to produce parquets of any pattern, size, and finish.

Artistic parquets made to custom design. The motifs can be created from customer drawings, catalogs, photos, artist renderings, or developed with the help of our professional designers in our offices.

The Pine Industries brand is synonymous with high-quality wooden floors, crafted in the Venetian tradition.

Pine Industries offers our customers a wide range of select wood boards, cut lists, geometric and floral patterns- all chosen and put together with the same care and passion as in the past.

Pine Industries produces wooden floor patterns using laser cutting technology without ever neglecting the rules handed down by master craftsmen. These production processes blend old world tradition and modern innovation. We give our customers the possibility to translate their ideas into a uniquely exclusive solution of refined high quality.

INSTALLATION AND MAINTENANCE

Environmental conditions for Installation

When our technicians lay the floors, certain temperature and humidity parameters must be respected. The environment must have an acceptable temperature (at least 18 degrees Celsius), and humidity between 35% and 60%. In the winter months it is still possible to overcome possible deformations of the wood, and the formation of leaks, by increasing the humidity using special machines.

High temperatures due to the presence of fireplaces or stoves can damage the parquet floor, so we take care of this too.

During all installations, we make sure that the packaging is opened only just before laying. Before that, the materials should be kept locked inside the room in which the floor will be laid for at least 48 hours. This way the pieces can adapt over time to the temperature of the environment.

Laying with floor heating

In order to place the parquet on any floor, the surface temperature cannot exceed 27 degrees Celsius.

At the beginning of warm weather periods, interior temperatures will have to be gradually raised to match those outside over the course of a week. Some types of wood, such as beech or Canadian maple, tend more than others to form leaks or cracks. Our assortment of materials offers a variety of wood types that retain their aesthetic characteristics, and are more resistant to climate changes.

– PERMIABILITY: The maximum allowed humidity percentage is equal to 1.8% on top of the concrete slab underneath, and 0.3% when simply suspended. Just to be sure, our crews always carry out a wetness check before proceeding to lay the floor.

– SUSPENDED INSTALLATIONS: We use a 0.2mm thick PE film that serves as a vapor barrier, laid with an overlap of 20 cm. Next, a layer of anti-drip insulation of up to 3 mm thickness is added, without overlap. Finally, the parquet will be laid by applying a continuous layer of glue on the top of the joints.

– GLUED in PLACE: A suitable layer of glue is applied to the concrete substrate, and then the floor is subsequently laid piece by piece on top.

The glues we usually use are flexible, anti-aging, and solvent-free. When using solvents, it is advised to carefully observe all the glue manufacturer’s instructions.

Laying without heating on the floor

– PERMIABILTY: The maximum allowed humidity percentage is equal to 2.0% with a concrete slab underneath, and 0.5% when simply suspended. Just to be sure, our crews always carry out a wetness check before proceeding to lay the floor.

Parquet care

It is important to take adequate care of your floor, especially at the beginning after installation.

Over time, the floor will become less and less sensitive and particularly resistant.

You can minimize care and maintenance by taking a few simple steps. Here are some tips:

– Remove dirt and dust with a broom or a vacuum cleaner, or with a parquet brush.

– It is best to immediately wipe up any liquids spilled on the floor, because water and/or other liquids cause warps and leaks.

 – The ideal climate for the interior environment is an air humidity of between 50 and 60%.

In winter, or periods of dry air, high temperatures and floor heating can cause leaks or cracks. So, it is recommended to use an air humidifier. It is also advisable not to cover the parquet with thick carpets to avoid heating the floor pieces.

– Keep outside dust and dirt from covering the floor. This will significantly reduce cleaning and wood care.

– It is advisable to use felt pads under furniture in order to prevent scratching and scuffs that can ruin the floor.

– There are many things that can lead to damage to the parquet that can be prevented. Heavyweight objects directly on the pattern pieces can cause stress and pressure point that will separate the wood. Avoid spills, scratches, and coloring. Avoid walking on parquet with high heel shoes. Only use detergents made for wood, never use acidic substances, solvents, or metal brushes.
